Mooretown Flags were edged out by Alvinston in final game of 2011

Alvinston, ON – The Mooretown Flags dropped a 2 - 1 decision to the Alvinston Flyers Friday night in Alvinston.

Brett Dalton scored the only goal in the first period shorthanded at 17:07 to give Alvinston the lead.

In the second Andrew Sokol tied things up in at 7:35.  Dylan Lightfoot's unassisted goal at 15:05 gave Alvinston the lead once again heading into the third.  The final goal in the second turned out to be the game winner as both sides remained scoreless in the third.

Alvinston outshot the Flags 35/30.  In power play opportunities Mooretown went 0 for 2 and Alvinston went 0 for 6.
James Morreau earned the win in net for Alvinston, Seth Hellinga took the loss.

 

The Flags remain in first place in the North Division with a record of 16-12-2OTL 34 points.  Blenheim are on their heals with one game back with 33 points.  Alvinston is in third spot with 31 points.

 

Mooretown's first game in 2012 is in Wallaceburg on January 4th.  Alvinston next game is in Blenheim on January 2nd.
