Mooretown Flags got bitten by the Sharks

in Great Lakes Jr C Hockey action The Flags were on the road Monday night and came up short losing to the Wheatley Sharks by a score of 7 - 2.

Wheatley went up 2 - 1 after the first period.  Mooretown's goal was scored by Spencer Bronzi assisted by Mike Burns and Jeff Sit. 

In the second period Wheatley scored 3 unanswered goals, the first on a power play to widen their lead to 5 - 1.  Mooretown scored their second goal of the game early in the third on the power play by Alex Dawson assisted by Mike Burns  However Wheatley came up with two more goals, the final on the power play to round out the scoring. 

Riley Babkirk and Sebastian Kannally each scored two goals for the Sharks and singles were added by Craig Adamson, Jesse Martin and Brett Bowman.

Mooretown went 1 for 3 in power play opportunities, Wheatley wend 2 for 9. 

Wheatley outshot the Flags 49 to 26.  Andrew Ganter and Seth Hellinga shared the duties in net for the Flags, Marc Tremblay earned the win.

The Flags remain in first place in the North Division with just a 1 point ahead of Alvinston. (Flags 28, Alvinston 27)  It is a tight race as Blenheim is following close behind who are 3 games back of the top two leaders with 25 points.

The Flags are back at home on Saturday Dec 10 at 7:30 start where they take on Wallaceburg in the first game of a home/home series.  They will return to Wallaceburg on Wed Dec 14 for game two.
