Belle River, ON - The
Mooretown Flags will face elimination on Saturday
after losing Friday night 10 - 3 to the Belle River
Candiens in the best of seven series in Great Lakes
Junior C Hockey semi-finals.
Belle River scored
three goals in the first, five in the second and two
in the third, Mooretown scored one goal in each
period.
Mike Ditty led
Belle River with six points after scoring four goals
and two assists. Chris DiNatale added two
goals with two assists and singles by Blake Jones,
Branden Larocque, Nik Dobrich and Dylan Impens.
Michael Gray scored two goals for the Flags and a
single was added by Jeff Schroeter.
Mooretown's Andrew
Ganter allowed 6 goals on 19 shots before being
replaced by Seth Hellinga who let in 3 goals on 17
shots. Total shots on goal by Belle River was
36. Zakk Olvin went the distance making 25
saves in the win.
Penalties was a
factor as Mooretown took a total of 20 minutes on 10
infractions and Belle River took a total of 25
minutes on 12 infractions. Mooretown scored
only once on ten power play opportunities,
whereas Belle River scored four on six
opportunities.
The two teams
return to Mooretown for game four in a must win
situation for the Flags who are now down 3 games to
0. Game time 7:30 at the Moore Sports Complex.
