The
Flags hosted the Blenheim Blades Saturday night.
After three periods of play the score was tied 6 - 6
sending the game into overtime that didn't produce a
game winner sending the game into overtime where the
Blades scored once to take the win.
In the first period
Blenheim took a 2 - 1 lead scoring the first two
goals by Neven Wiebenga and Brooks Shepley.
Michael Gray scored the lone goal for the Flags
assisted by Jake Currie and Josh Teschke.
Second period saw
Mooretown tie things up early in the period with Dan
Lumley scoring from Travis Mullen. The Blades
answered back scoring 2 back to back goals to take a
2 point lead once again. Thomas Innes and
Tyler Clarke each scored for the Blades.
McGregor Haddon came up with a goal to narrow the
lead however with seconds remaining in the period
Blenheim would take a two goal lead with Thomas
Innes scoring on a powerplay. Score at the end
of two Blenheim 5 - Mooretown 3.
In the third period
Mooretown bounced back scoring three goals the first
on the powerplay by Alex Dawson. McGregor
Haddon scored his second of the night to tie things
up, after which Mike Burns gave Mooretown the lead
for the first time with a goal assisted by Alex
Dawson. Blades fought back and at 18:39 Neven
Wiebenga scored his second of the night to tie and
the score remained the same sending the game into
overtime.
Taking the
overtime/shootout loss was Seth Hellinga who made a
total of 40 saves. Dylan Vanderpol took the
win with 30 saves.
The Flags remain in
first place in the North Division standings race
with a total 10 wins, 6 losses and 1 OTL for a total
of 21 points.
The Flags will travel
to Dresden on Friday Nov 11 and return home for a
midweek game against Kingsville on Wed Nov 16.
Game time 8:00 pm.
