Mooretown Flags End 2012 with  Loss in Blenheim
December 30,  2012

The Mooretown Flags traveled to Blenheim on Sunday night and took a 2 - 1 loss against the Blades.

"It really was a heartbreaker." said head Coach Jordan Pennesi, "I thought we played pretty well for full three periods. We had a one nothing lead going into the third period."

Riley Roberts scored his fifteenth goal of the season to give the Flags the 1 - 0 lead at 3:15  in the first period assisted by Jeff Schroeter and Andrew Sokol.

In the third period Kirk McKillop scored a short handed goal to tie the game at 6:54.

"It was a fluke play." said Pennesi "Our goalie went to clear the puck and hit their guy, they kept it in and shot it in the empty net."

Action continued and late in the period at 18:32 McKillop scored his second of the game to give the Blades the win.

Mooretown outshot Blenheim 38 - 36.  Netminder Brandon Johnson took the loss and Justin Pratt earned the win making a total of 37 saves.

Mooretown remains in 7th spot with a record of 12 - 13 - 4 - 1 for 29 points so far this season.

"Ten more games left in the regular season.  We are getting there, we are a young team and I think the more we do it the more practicing at it, it will come" said Pennesi.

The Flags are on the road for their next three games.  The first on Wednesday January 2 when they travel to Wallaceburg for a 7:30 puck drop. On Friday January 5th they are in Kingsville and on January 11th they are in Belle River. They are back at home on Saturday Jan 12 when they host Alvinston at 7:30 pm.
