Valiant Effort Came up Short

The Mooretown Flags hosted the Belle River Canadiens in Great Lakes Jr. C Hockey league action on Saturday and came up short taking a 3 - 1 loss .
The Canadiens scored
singles in both the first and second period with
Jason Clarke an James Shelton scoring.
In a valiant effort
trailing by 2 leading into the final minutes of play
the Flags pulled their goalie for the extra man that
resulted in a goal by Travis Mulen from McGRegor
Haddon at 18:30. With the extra man still in
force in the attempt to tie things up Belle River's
Chris DiNatale scored into the empty net at 19:24 to
seal the win.
Belle River outshot
Mooretown 37 - 30. Mooretown's penalty kill
line was perfecting as Belle River went scoreless on
six power play opportunities. Mooretown also
went scoreless on two power play opportunities.
Zakk Olvin earned the
win with 29 saves. Brandon Johnson took the
loss with 34 saves.
The Flags have
dropped to 7th position with 10 - 11 - 4 - 1 for a
total of 25 points. Both Wheatley and Dresden
are just one point ahead with 26.
Mooretown will travel
to Wallaceburg on Wednesday Dec 12 and are back at
home on Saturday Dec 15 when they host Dresden.
