Mooretown Flags Dominate over the Sharks in Final Regular League Game

The Mooretown Flags finished off their regular season in Great Lakes Jr C League with a 6 - 1 win over the third place Wheatley Sharks.

Matt Brandon opened the scoring at 12:13 in the first period with Alex Rutherford assisting.  Dan Lumley put the Flags up by two at 15:52 with Brandon and Mike Burns getting the assists.  Wheatley's only goal of the game came at 16:24 by Brett Bowman.

In the second the Flags scored three unanswered goals by Calab Harse from Cody Hardman at 4:50, Jeff Schroeter from Hardman and Riley Roberts at 10:30 and final goal of the period at 16:31 by Andrew Sokol from Jordan McBeath and Matt Brandon.

Final goal fo the night was scored in the third by Riley Roberts from Schroeter and David Addley at 2:55.

No penalties were called against Wheatley.  Mooretown took two penalties in the night and killed off both.

Wheatley outshot the Flags 34 - 31.  Brandon Johnson picked up his tenth win of the season in net with 33 saves. Nick Keeler and Marc Tremblay shared in the loss for the Sharks.  Keeler took the loss allowing five goals, Tremblay replaced Keeler in the third allowing one goal.

The Flags ended in seventh place overall going 17-18-4-1 for the season.  They will meet second place Belle River Canadiens in the first round of playoffs.  The series begins on Tuesday Feb 5 in Belle River.  Game two will be in Mooretown on Wednesday Feb 6 with a game start at 8:00 pm.  complete schedule can be found here.
