Celebrate First Win in 2013

The Mooretown Flags
began 2013 on a winning note after taking a 4 - 1
win in Wallaceburg Wednesday night in Great Lakes Jr
C Hockey League action.
Wallaceburg opened the
scoring at 12:57 into the first period that turned
out to be their only goal of the game with Brennan
Rainey scoring assisted by Scott Lubbers and Lucais
Meyskens. Mooretown tied the game at 17:28
assisted by Mike Burns and Travis Mullen.
The Flags went on and
scored two more in the second and a single in the
third. Dan Lumley scored the game winner on
the power play assisted by Andrew Sokol and Travis
Mullen. Sokol also scored a power play in the
second with Mike Burns and Dan Lumley assisting.
Jeff Schroeter scored the lone goal in the third
with Lumley and McGregor Haddon assisting.
Wallaceburg outshot the
Flags 41 - 38. Brandon Johnson earned the win
with 40 saves, Devine Cove took the loss with 34
saves.
Mooretown went two for
four on power play opportunities and were perfect on
the penalty kill after Wallaceburg also had four
opportunities.
Mooretown is currently
in seventh spot in the standings race one point
behind Dresden with 31 points. they are now
13-13-4-1 for the season.
Next up the Flags will
travel to Kingsville Saturday night with a game
start at 7:30pm.
