ends Losing Streak
with Win in Alvinston

The Mooretown Flags
broke their five game losing streak last night in
Alvinston with a 6 - 4 win against the Lakers.
After the first
period both sides were even 1 - 1. McGregor
Haddon opened the scoring for the Flags just :31
seconds into the game. Dan Lumley assisted on
the goal. Alvinston answered back at 6:40
scoring a power play goal. Dylan Lightfoot
scored with Matt Carroll and Cody Perriam assisting.
In the second
Alvinston took the lead at 2:47 afer Karsten Berg
from Kik Dorman and Dan Warner scored.
Mooretown came back and tied at 6:29 on a short
handed goal by Jordan Orth. Ryan Jennings
earned the assist. At 12:32 Mooretown began a
series of power play goals that gave the Flags a 3
goal lead. Scoring the first power play goal
was Travis Mull from jeff Schroeter and Dam Lumley.
Schroeter scored the second power play goal at 13:53
from Mullen and Lumley and the final power play goal
in the second was scored by Cody Hardman from Haddon
and Mullen. Score after two period Mooretown 5
- Alvinston 2.
In the third
Alvinston battled back and came within one as Tyler
Kettler scored at 9:46 from Dan Warner and Joe
Archer. The Flyers scored their final goal at
17:12 on the power play and with an extra man
attacker. Joe Archer scored with Tyler
Kettler being credited with the assist. The
Flags still killing off a penalty and the extra man
finished the game with an empty net goal scored by
McGregor Haddon unassisted.
Penalties were a
factor as Alvinston scored on two of Thirteen power
play opportunities. Mooretown scored three on
seven.
Alvinston outshot the
Flags 57 - 27. Brandon Johnson took the well
deserved win with 53 saves in the game. Jamie
Morreau allowed five goals on 18 shots and was
replaced by Brad Jacklin late in the second period.
The Flags
remain in seventh spot with a record of 15-18-4-1
for a total of 35 points. Alvinston is in
sixth spot with 43 points with a record of
20-15-1-2.
Mooretown has two
games remaining in the regular season the first
tonight (Sat Jan 26) when they host Blenheim for a
7:30 puck drop. Their final game is next
Saturday Feb 2 on the road against Wheatley.
Alvinston also has
two games remaining with their final two games on
the road. Tonight they are in Kingsville and
Monday Jan 28 they travel to Wheatley.
