Mooretown,
On -
The momentum
continued
for the
Flags after
defeating
the first
place team 5
- 3 in Belle
River last
weekend as
they
defeated the
Dresden
Kings at
home
Saturday
night with a
final score
of 4 - 1.
Dan Lumley
opened the
scoring at
2:06 on a
great
passing play
sequence
from
McGregor
Haddon and
Mike Burns.
Dresden came
back at 4:52
with a
shorthanded
goal with
Taylor
Sisson
scoring.
Travis
Mullen
scored what
turned out
to be the
game winner
with a power
play goal
with seconds
remaining in
the period
to give the
Flags the
lead heading
into the
second
period.
Second
period saw
Andrew Sokol
take a hard
slap shot
from the
right point
that beat
Kings
netminder
Brent
Paxton. Time
of the goal
was 2:24
unassisted.
Travis
Mullen added
to his tally
for the
night with
his second
goal
assisted by
Jordan Orth.
Period ended
with the
Flags
leading 4 -
1.
Third period
action both
sides went
scoreless.
forced the
other guys
to turn it
over and our
team is
riding on a
bit of a
high in
confidence
so if we can
keep that
going that
will be
good.
Mooretown's
penalty kill
line was
clean as
Dresden went
0 for 4 on
the power
plays.
Mooretown
went 1 for
6. Brandon
Johnson was
outstanding
in net for
the Flags as
the Kings
outshout the
Flags 34 -
27.
"I thought
the guys
played a
full sixty
minutes
tonight and
it was good
to see, we
lost down
there 5 - 1
so it was
good for
them to
battle back
tonight."
said Head
Coach Jordan
Pennesi
"Everything
has been
getting a
lot better
lately,
seven games
out of our
last 8 we
have gotten
points so we
are doing
pretty well
and things
are starting
to come
together."
The Flags
are back in
action this
Tuesday as
they head to
Essex, then
back at home
on Sat
November 10
when they
host
Kingsville.
