Daniel
Beaudion’s
hat-trick help
lead the
Kingsville
Comets to a 5-3
victory over the
Mooretown Flags
Wednesday night
in Great Lakes
Junior C hockey
action.
“We got to come
to play for the
full sixty
minutes,” said
Flags Coach
Jordan Pennesi
“First period we
were slow,
second period we
were almost
slower but the
third period we
picked up, but
we were just a
little too
late.”
Beaudoin opened
the scoring just
over a minute
into the first
period with his
first of the
night, and would
follow it up
with two goals
in the second to
complete his
hat-trick. His
two goal period
were part of a
three goal
second period
that help seal
the victory for
the Comets.
Beaudion’s
second goal came
short handed,
and his third
finished off the
Kingsville
scoring with
under a minute
left in the
period.
Mike Burns
scored in the
first period to
knot the game at
one until Frank
Desjardin put
the Comets back
in front a
minute later.
Mooretown would
escape the first
period with a
2-2 tie as Riley
Roberts tied it
midway through
the period.
With the Comets
a head 5-2 in
the third, Matt
Brandon would
cut the lead
with an early
goal. But Comets
goalie Nathan
Crankshaw would
make 9 saves in
the period on
route to the
victory,
stopping 32 of
35 shots he
faced.
Braden Palocz
made 28 saves on
33 shots in the
loss.
Steven Spada had
three assists in
the game for the
Comets, while
Ruan Desjarlais
also had three
points with a
goal and two
assists.
“When something
goes wrong the
passion kind of
fades away and
the guys kind of
let down. They
want to win, you
can tell they
want to win. We
just haven’t
caught any
breaks or
bounces.”
The loss is the
Flags 4th
straight, and
puts them at
1-5-1 to open
the season.
