Mooretown Downed by Essex 73's

The
Flags dropped a 5 - 1 loss against the Great Lakes
Jr C Hockey league leaders Essex 73's. (23-2-1-1)
After a scoreless first period Essex
went on a rampage in the second scoring 4
consecutive goals. Mooreotown's lone goal came
at 17:17 in the second after Brett Thompson scored a
short handed goal assisted by Ryle Lyle.
Third period saw Essex score their
final and only goal of the period short handed.
Dylan Solecki led the 73's scoring
two goals with singles by Matthew Hebert, Philip
Janikowski and Dallas Pereira.
Mooretown's power kill line denied
Essex from scoring on nine power play opportunities.
Mooretown went scoreless on four.
Mooretown suffered 32 penalties
minutes on 8 infractions. Essex took 18
minutes on 5 infractions.
Essex outshot the Flags 39 - 24.
Brandon Johnson in net for the Flags made 34 saves.
Jacob Kment made 23 for Essex.
The Flags currently holds fourth
place with 26 points (12-10-1-1), however Alvinston,
Amherstburg and Blenheim are following in a tight
race with each at 25 points.
Next up the Flags have four road games starting
tonight (Sunday) when they travel to Blenheim to
take on the Blades. Game time 7:15pm.
Then on Fri Dec 13 they are in Belle River, Sun Dec
15 - Amerstburg, Fri Dec 20 back in Belle River
before returning home on Sat Dec 21 hosting the
Alvinston.
