Mooretown Flags Lost

In Great Lakes Jr. C hockey the Mooretown Flags took a disappointing 8 - 6  loss against the Essex 73'3  that ended their 4 game win streak.

After two periods of play the Flags led 6 - 5.  Three goals in the first for Essex by Alex Garon, Dan Mainella and Dylan before Mooretown's Brandon Layman closed the period with the Flags single.  Sam McCormack earned the assist on the play. 

In the second Essex widened their lead by scoring the first goal by Tyler Scott.  Mooretown exploded and scored the next four goals in just under two minutes.  Defenceman David Addley scored his first goal of the season on the power play with McCormack earning the assist at 9:27.  Eighteen seconds later  Brett Thompson scored the second power play goal with Dan Lumley and McCormack assisting. Just over a minute later Sam Jasmin from Jeff Schroeter tied the game and to finish off the scoring frenzy Brett Thompson scored his second to give the Flags the lead for the first time.  But before the period was over the two teams exchanged goals the first by Essex on the power play by Dylan Solecki which tied the game.  Mooretown regained their lead on the final goal of the period by Jordan McBeath from David Addley.  The two sides went to the locker room with the Flags leading 6 - 5.

However the lead ended in the third as Essex scored two power play goals and one shorthanded goal to take the win.  Aaron Thibert power play goal tied the game.   Alex Garon scored the game winner shorthanded and Tyler Raymont finished it off with :05 seconds to spare.

Essex outshot the Flags 48 - 27.  Netminder Brandon Johnson took the loss but was outstanding in net with 40 saves.  Jacob Kment went 30:31 took 12 shots and made 8 saves who was later replaced by Arren Romeril who earned the win taking 15 shots and making 13 saves.

Mooretown went three for five on the power play, Essex went four for eight.
