Mooretown Flags Edged Out In Blenheim
january 30, 2015

Great Lakes Jr. C Hockey League

The Mooretown Flags were on the road on Friday night in Blenheim and took a 3 - 2 loss against the Blades.

Blenheim went up 2 - 0 after the first period with Dylan Smith and Tyler Boughner scoring at 13:29 and 14:35.

Early in the second at 1:14 Austin Hewton narrowed the gap for the Flags with Sam Jasmin and Ben Morrison earning assists on the play.  But late in the period Nolan VandenBoorn regained the 2 point spread for the Blades.

Frankie White put the Flags within reach at 12:52 in the third after scoring on the power play with Jasmin picking up his second assist and Dan Lumley earning his first point in the game.

But time ran out and Blenheim took the win.

Brandon Johnson suffered the loss in net for the Flags, Klinton Kenney earned the win for Blenheim.

Mooretown took just one penalty in the game giving the Blades only one power play opportunity which they were denied on.  Mooretown had six opportunities and scored once.

The Flags are back in action tonight (Sat Jan 31) for their last game in the regular season against Alvinston.  This game has no meaning for the Flags as their playoff schedule against Essex was released earlier this week.  (see schedule) but tonight's game is important to Alvinston as they are tied with Blenheim for 4th place in the standings. Blenheim is facing Wheatley tonight for their final game.

So will Mooretown deny Alvinston the chance to move up?  Come and see at 7:30 pm at the Mooretown Sports Complex.
