Mooretown Flags Defeat Dresden

Mooretown Flags, can we say it? ...are on a winning streak.

After defeating Wallaceburg in the home/home series this past week the Flags downed the Dresden Kings Friday night in Dresden with a final score of 3 - 1 to win their third game in a row.

 

The win puts the Flags 7th place and 5 points ahead of Wallaceburg.

 

After a scoreless first period Dan Lumley scored the only goal in the second at 3:08 with newcomers Joe DeSena and Ben Morrison assisting.

 

Brett Thompson scored what turned out to be the winning goal at 5:57 with Frankie White and Dan Lumley assisting.  Dresden's Nate Sabourin denied Brandon Johnson his shut out bid at the midway point and at 18:34 Ben Morrison scored from Frankie White to secure the win.


The Flags was scoreless on power play opportunities going zero for eight.  Dresden was scoreless on two opportunities.


Dresden outshot the Flags 35 - 25.  Johnson earned the win making 34 saves, Daniel Tonietto suffered the loss made 22 saves.

 

The Flags are now 8-18-2-0 for the season and  are back in action tonight and look to continue the streak when they host the second place Amherstburg Admirals (19-9-0-0)  for their final game before the Christmas break.  Game time 7:30 pm at the Moore Sports Complex.
