Mooretown Flags Took a Huge Loss in First Playoff Game

The Mooretown Flags travelled to
Essex last night for their first
meeting against the 73's in the
Great Lakes Jr. C playoffs and
suffered a 9 - 0 loss.
Even with eleven power play
opportunities the Flags couldn't
find the back of the net.
Essex scored four times on eight
opportunities.
Essex went up 2 - 0 after the
first, then scored two power
play in the second and the first
two goals in the third were
power play goals and the 73's
went on and added three more for
a total of five goals in the
third period.
Jordan Ryan scored 2 goals for
Essex and singles were scored by
William Stadder, Anthony
Cristofaro, Tyler Scott, Mark
MacPherson, Daniel McIntyre, Dan
Mainella and Michael Vieira.
The recorded shots on goal were
in favour of the Essex 31 - 9.
Brandon Johnson and Steven
Taylor shared the duties in net
for the Flags. Noah Hedrick was
in net for Essex.
Captain Dan Lumley got injured
early and didn't finish the
game. Brett Thompson
received a major penalty and
will be out for the next two
games.
Others not in the lineup Sam
Jasmin suffered an injury in
Saturday's game. David Addley
was sidelined earlier this
season due to an injury and Clay
Williams and Spencer Bronzi were
also missing from the lineup
(reasons unknown).
The two teams are back in action
tonight in Mooretown with an
8:00 pm start.
