Mooretown Flags Season Ends

Playoffs
In a solid and
fast paced hockey game the
Mooretown Flags season ended in
game four of the best of seven
series in the first round in
Great Lakes Jr. C playoff
against the league leaders Essex
73's.
The Flags battled hard for three
periods and it wasn't until the
third period when Jordan Ryan
scored a power play goal at 7:05
to give Essex the lead.
The final goal was scored into
the empty net by Brad Carroll in
the last minute of play giving
Essex the 2 - 0 win.
Essex outshot the
Flags 33 - 21.
Mooretown's netminder Brandon
Johnson was outstanding in net
making many key saves turned
away 31 of 32 shots.
Colin Lauzon
earned the win stopping all for
Essex.
The Flags were unable to
capitalize on four power play
opportunities and gave up one
goal on two Essex power plays.

Sideline and not
able to play due to injury was
Team Captain Dan Lumley who
prior to the game was presented
with the January Great Lakes Jr.
C Player of the month award with
Coach Blake Morrison and League
Convenor Jeff Beatty making the
presentation. Lumley led
the team and was 5th in the
league in points with 17 goals
and 31 assists for a total of
48.
The Essex 73's
will continue to the semi final
round. In other playoff
action Amherstburg leads the
Wheatley Sharks 2 - 0, Lakeshore
Canadiens leads the Dresden
Kings 2 - 0 and the Blenheim
Blades also has a 2 - 0 lead
over the Alvinston Flyers.
