Mooretown Flags Took Second Weekend Win in Shoot Out

After taking a
5-2 win in Dresden Friday night
the Flags continued their
winning weekend on Saturday and
defeated the Wallaceburg Lakers
at home in a solid game that was
decided in shoot out by a score
3 - 2 in Great Lakes Jr. C
hockey league action.
The Flags scored the only goal
in the first by Ryan Lyle his
9th of the season at 4:19 to
give the Flags the 1 - 0 lead.
Talor Declercq and Aiden
Chapdalaine added assist on the
goal. Mooretown outshot
Wallaceburg in the first 14 -
12.

In the second period Caden Fleming widened the scored at 2:14 with Alec
Segers and David Addley picking
up the assist. Wallaceburg
clawed their way back and before
the period ended added 2 goals
to even the score. Cory
Lucier scored at 11:11 for
Wallaceburg and Evan Weidenbach
scored at 18:08.
Wallaceburg had the edge
outshooting Mooretown 17 - 7.
Third period
action was solid hockey with
Mooretown outshooting
Wallaceburg 14 -11 but neither
side scored that sent the game
into overtime. Overtime
didn't solve the game.
Ryan Lyle the Flags first
shooter was the only player to
score as Brandon Johnson stopped
all three Wallaceburg shooters
and the Flags took the win.
Johnson earned up
the win with a total of 43
saves, Joel Sowinski was in net
for Wallaceburg made 35 saves.
Wallaceburg was
the only team that had power
play opportunities and they went
zero for two.
It was a solid
game and penalties were not a
factor. The game sheet
shows that Wallaceburg went
clean and didn't take a single
penalty and the Flags took only
two penalties in the game.
The Flags are now 4 - 11 - 1.
On Tuesday November 11th the
Flags will have a tough battle
when they travel to Essex to
take on the league leading 73's.
(13-1-1-1). Next home game
is on Saturday November 15th
when they host Dresden.
