In the
first period the Flags were first on the scoreboard on a
powerplay goal shot by Nicholas Rolls, unassisted. Just a
minute plus after Essex
rebounded
and put one past the pipes, this too on a powerplay goal, shot
by Ryan Diotte from Matt Ridout and Kris Spoors.

At
1:54 in the second period Essex took a quick lead on a goal by
Jordy Piroski assisted by Marty Hogan. The Flags came
right back at them and scored their second goal at 3:03 to keep
things even. Scoring for Mooretown was Jordan Banniga,
from Michael Fleming and Jay Alison. At the end of the
second the score remained tied at 2 all.

In the
third the Flags scored two quick goals to take a 2 point
spread. The first by Tom Belanger from Jim Petronski and
the next by Michael Fleming unassisted. But the lead was
not held on for long as three minutes later Essex dumped one in
on a goal by Deon Keller from Glen Ivancic and Cam Crowder then
at the 18:51 mark on the clock Essex tied things up on a goal by
Mike Venables assisted by Tony Carchedi and Jason McCrone,
sending the game into OT. The play went end to end as both
teams played hard. Essex managed to put one past the
Flags goaltender to take the win. Scoring the game winning
goal for Essex was Marty Hogan, assisted by Tony Carchedi and
Jason McCrone.

In net
for Mooretown was Blake MacDonald with 33 saves and for Essex
was Rob Puim with 25 saves for the night.

Flags 7 vs Blenheim Blades 1
Mooretown
took on the Blenheim Blades in action at the Mooretown Sports
Complex on Saturday night. Mooretown opened the scoring in
the first period with 3 goals. The first by Don Peters
from Dara Emslie and Jeff Bourne. The second was shot in
by Jamie McRea fromJake Tayler and Michael Fleming. The
third goal by the Flags was by Michael Fleming assisted by Jay
Allison and Jordan Banninga. The Blades scored their only
goal of the period and the game late in the first period on a
power play goal by Tyler Rokszler.
Power
plays were the Blades down fall as the Flags scored three goals
in the second on power plays. Scoring power play goals
were, Dave Rowlinson from Jake Tayler and Dara Emslie. The
second was by Nicholas Rolls, from Jake Tayler and Jamie McRea
and the last power play goal was by Don Peters from Dara Emslie
and Nicholas Rolls. One other goal was scored in the
second period by Jake Tayler, assisted by Jamie McRea and
Nicholas Rolls.
No
goals were scored in the third period which left the game at a
final score of 7 - 1 for Mooretown. In net for Mooretown
was Blake MacDonald with a total of 34 saves for the
night. In net for the Blades was shared by Nick Crawford
and Chris Hill with a combine
score
of 30 saves.
January
18, 2002
In
exciting action the Flags were defeated in OT by the Essex 73's.
The
game was scoreless after the first period. Just 51 seconds
into the 2nd period Essex shot one in the net. Less than 2
minutes later the Flags answered back on a power play goal by
Dan Worsley assisted b y Jeff Bourne and Dave Rowlinson.
The play continued as Essex took the lead on another score, but
just 16 seconds later the Flags came back and tied the game
again. This goal was scored by Jordan Banninga from Aaron
Rolls and Michael Fleming.
In the
third period the action continued when at 3:11 Essex took
another lead. At 10:03 the Flags came back to tie things
up. Scoring this goal was Jake Tayler from Jamie
McRae. The score was to remain the same as the clock ran
down sending the game into OT where at 3:05 Essex put one
between the pipes to take the win.
Exceptional
goaltending by Mooretown net minder Matt Drive with 42 saves
and Essex's Rob Puim recorded 23.
November

Wallaceburg
Lakers 2 vs Mooretown Flags 3
In
hockey action at the Petrolia Arena, the Mooretown Flags
were
able to take a win after a devastating run of losses.
The
Lakers were ahead after the first period of play by a score of 2
- 1.
Scoring
in the first period for the Lakers was Luke Vick and Jeff
Helps. Assisting with the goals were Kirk McClintock,
Tyrel Fitzpatrick, Chris Myers and Zack Vandenbroek.
Scoring
the lone goal in the first period on a power play for the
Flags was Jeff Kettlewell.
In the
second period Mooretown put two goals in the net to take and
hold on to the lead. Scoring the two goals for the Flags
were Jason Savage and Dan Peters on a Power play,
assisting with these goals were Brandon McFarlane, Justin
Jolicoeur (2) and Jeff Kettlewell.
After
pulling their goalie in the final minute of play The Flags
were
able to hold the Lakers and win the game!
October
2, 2002
The
Mooretown Flags played a strong game once again but were
unsuccessful in getting a win. Kingsville 2 Mooretown
1. Scoring for Mooretown was Justin Jolicoeur for the
second game in a row. Matt Driver played a strong game
in goal making 27 saves.
The
Flags travel to Belle River on Friday and then are home to
Southpoint on Saturday game time 7:30 pm.

The Mooretown Flags lost to the
Essex 73`s on Saturday night 5 to 3.
The Flags record is now 1 win 4
loss's. The scorers for Mooretown were Dave Bourne,Dan
Peters & Justin Jolicoeur. The Flags were 1 for 4 on
the power play. Essex was 2 for 5 on the power
play.
Blake MacDonald played a
strong game in goal for Mooretown and made 31 saves. Flags
were out shot 36 to 28.
Mooretown plays at home on
Wednesday October 2nd against the Kingsville Comets game time
8 pm.

The Mooretown Flags lost to the
Alvinston Flyers on Saturday night 4-0.
Scoring for Alvinston was Brad
Cooper,Greg Knapp,Patrick Podolinsky and Ed Campbell.Chris
Bullock played goal for Alvinston and got the shutout making
19 saves.Mooretown `s only bright spot was the play of their
goaltender Blake MacDonald he faced 29 shots.
Mooretown`s record is now 1 win and 2
losses.Their next game is Monday September 23rd in Southpoint
game time 7:30 pm
