At the 2012 Priority Selection the Sarnia Sting first choice was the 13th pick of the day where they selected Brett Hargrave from the Mississauga Rebels. Hargrave is 6'4, 195lb Right Winger who had a total of 64 points last season with 28 goals, 36 assists and a total of 58 minutes in penalties. 

"Were excited to have him, we didn't think he be there in the 13th hole" said Sting Coach Jacques Beaulieu who met with the media after the selection "he's a big power forward Rick Nash type player, pretty dynamic, great hands for a big guy who brings the puck from the dirty areas and he skates real well."

In a telephone interview, Hargrave described himself as a power forward type of player who likes to use his shot whenever he can.  Hargrave is from North Bay who came to play with the Mississauga Rebels in the 2011 - 2012 season.  The Rebels won the 2012 OHL Cup and Hargrave led his team in goals scoring 6 in the tournament. 

The Sting's second selection,  the 18th pick in round two was Alexandre Renaud from the Ottawa Jr 67's.  Renaud plays left wing is 6'1 190 lbs. He had 34 points last season with 14 goals and 20 assists.  Renaud also describes himself as a power forward who likes to go into the dirty areas and has vision.  Interesting fact about
 

 Renaud is that last season was his first year in AAA. "Having grown 5" inches helped" said Renaud in a telephone interview, "I was cut two years in a row but after a coaching change and hard training because I wanted to play in the next level I made the team." 

"Alexandre Renaud was the next guy on our list" commented Jacques Beaulieu "he skates very well and got his nose to the net and very comparable to Brett Hargrave"

The Sting did not have a pick in round three.  In round four they had two picks the 1st and 9th spots.  Jordan Addesi from the Vaughan Kings was the 3rd selection of the day.  Addesi plays left wing is 6'1" 175 lbs. Fourth selection was Josh Jacobs from Detroit Honeybaked. The first defencmen selected stands 6'2" tall and weights 171 lbs.

In the fifth round the Sting also had two back to back selections. In the fifth round,  fifth pick and fifth selection of the day  the Sting chose local Lambton AAA player Matteo Ciccarelli.  Ciccarelli played 40 games last season and earned a total of 43 points, scoring 10 goals and 33 assists.  He also served 50 minutes in penalties.

The sixth pick in round five was Patrick White from the Ottawa Jr 67's.  White is a  5'10" tall, 164 lbs centerman. Earned 61 points in 36 games with 32 goals and 29 assists.

In round seven Goaltender Ryan Hergott of the Kitchener Jr Rangers was selected.  Hergott is 6'3", 175 lbs. He recorded 7 wins, 8 loss with 2.95 GAA.

Sting had no selction in round eight.  In round nine Cam Ashley of the Cleveland Barons was selected.  Ashley is 5'9" 165 lb and plays left wing.

Round ten saw the second local player selected.  Jeffrey King from Lambton AAA plays right defence is 5'9" tall and weights 142 lbs.

In round eleven Defenceman Zachary Core from Cambridge Hawks, round thirteen right wing Ryan Vendramin from Sault Ste. Marie and in the final round goaltender Marc Audet from the Rocky Mountain Roughriders.
