Jr B Pacers lost season opener in Wallaceburg

Wallaceburg, On - The Sarnia Pacers lost their season opener to the Wallaceburg Red Devils by a score of 17 - 6 in Ontario Jr B Lacrosse League action. 

In the first period Wallaceburg took the lead scoring seven unanswered goals.  In the second both sides scored four and in the third Wallaceburg scored 6 and Sarnia scored 2.

Scoring for Sarnia were Kyle Conroy with 2 and singles by Josh Yurchuck, TJ Mara, Austin Langs and Dan Charlton.  For Wallaceburg Jordan Durston was the top goal scorer with 5, Clint Lamarsh and Jordan VanDamme each scored 3, Rob Pollock scored 2 and singles by Nate Carrol, Mike Myers, Joel Shepley and Mitch Burton.

Wallaceburg outshot Sarnia 74 - 41.  Both sides went scoreless on the powerplay with Sarnia going 0 for 3 and Wallaceburg 0 for 1.

Justin Matthews went 44 minutes in net for the Pacers facing 61 shots on goal and allowing 14 goals and was replaced by Ian Ferguson who went 16 minutes allowing 3 goals on 13 shots.  Ryan Schuetzkowski earned the win for Wallaceburg.

The two teams will meet again on May 2 for Sarnia's home opener at the Clearwater Arena.  Game time 8:00 pm.
