What did your kid do this summer?

Joshua Russell Gibson, is a 10 year old who displays confidence on the stage and off. Josh is involved in many activities that includes sports and has been singing and acting for six years. As is summers past, this summer he joined a group called Showtime.

Showtime is owned by Dan Sonier and Jen Brown-Nead, two local teachers with the Catholic School Board who are both trained in music therapy.  The company has been operating for 9 years and it offers a fun and educational three week program for children and youth.  This summer 40 children participated with ages ranging from ages 4 - 16.  The program is for anyone with general interest in Singing, Dance and Theatre.  "I like it because you meet new friends, learn new dances and learn new songs." said Josh Gibson.

During the three weeks the group prepares for their summer finale and perform an entertaining show on stage at the Sarnia Library before a live audience. In this years performance "Showtime Idol" a spoof from "American Idol"  Josh played one of the Judges in the show and his performance was entertaining and very humorous.  The show designed and written by Sonier and Brown-Nead was very well written and choreographed and the performances by all the Singers/Actors was very entertaining.

In an interview with Josh Gibson after the performance he told Sarniasports that he plans on going further in his career in singing and acting but he also likes sports.  He plays volleyball, basketball, football, hockey, a little bit of soccer and lacrosse and he also plays chess.  His favourite sport is hockey and has aspirations to play in the NHL someday.

Josh's favourite past time is playing the piano, watching TV and  listening to music. Josh offers good advice to other young people "play sports because it keeps you in shape".

Josh lives in Sarnia and is the son of Melody and Cameron Gibson and younger brother to Teighan and Owen.
