The Sarnia Braves AAA Men's Baseball team forfeited the Western County Baseball championship series to the Wyoming Cattlebarons after the Sarnia Braves announce on that they were unable to participate in the final series against the Wyoming Cattlebarons.
The last semi final game between the Cattlebarons and Port Lambton ended on Friday Aug 17. Conflicting scheduling by both sides ended with the schedule being set to begin on Thursday August 23. "The wait of six days between the end of the semi-final and beginning of the final is not a condition the Braves can meet due to players moving back to their college and university teams this weekend and lingering injuries from their 60 game summer schedule." said in a press release received by the Sarnia Braves.
The Braves finished 14-2 in league play this season and secured home field advantage in the playoffs. Wyoming Cattlebarons and the Wyoming Jrs were the two teams that handed Sarnia their two losses. The Wyoming Cattlebarons went 11 - 5 in the league season. In regular season play Sarnia and Wyoming met twice. Wyoming Cattlebarons defeated the Sarnia Braves 9 - 8 in extra innings in the first match up and Sarnia took the second game 11 - 1.
Wyoming is a "C' Division team and they were looking forward to competing against Sarnia AAA team. "We were very excited to be playing Sarnia in the finals" said in a statement received by the Wyoming team.
The Braves will now switch over to their Michigan roster for the upcoming 2012 Michigan Cup which is just one month away. The Braves were runners-up in the 2011 Michigan Cup.
The Wyoming Cattlebarons will be hosting the 2012 Senior "C" OBA Championships on Labour Day Weekend Aug 31, Sept 1 and 2. Schedule to be released soon.
