The Sarnia Legionnaires hosted Chatham on Saturday in the second game of the home/home series on the weekend.  The Legionnaires came up  short taking a 5 - 2 loss.

"We felt it was a good effort" said coach Dan Rose, "Chatham had ten Veterans in the line up and we had four, the kids that we had in the line up did well and that's what we wanted to see."

 

Scoring for Sarnia Saturday was Chad Van Eyk on the power play in the first period from Frank White and Alabama native Josh Kestner.  Kestner comes from Huntsville Alabama and played for the Flint Jr Generals A Tier III last season.  Sarnia's second goal was scored in the second period by Spencer Bronzi from Bobby King. 

Chatham scored two goals in the first period, one in the second and two more in the third.   Veteran Sean Myers scored two goals for Chatham and  Blake Blondeel, Mack Holmes and Michael Levesque each scored singles.

Great performance by Sarnia's netminder by Brandon Polocz allowing two goals in the game and making a total 36 saves.  Sean Parker played the second half allowing three goals and making 18 saves.

"Selecting a team can be difficult at this time of year. "It's a difficult time right now as everything is up in the air as players are trying out in the OHL. We could get 4 players back or we could get no players, kids are being asked to try out for other teams and we can't hold them back.  And even what's happening with the NHL has an effect on team selection as it all trickles down the pipe." said Rose

Sarnia is back in Exhibition action for three consecutive games as they travel stateside to Kalamazoo on Tuesday August 28th.  On Wednesday the Legionnaires are in London then back at home on Thursday August 30.  Home game is set for 7:10 at the Sarnia Arena.
