Sting Deal Chiarlitti to Owen Sound

August 29, 2012

Sarnia, On –  Sarnia Sting General Manager Jacques Beaulieu announced this afternoon that the Hockey Club has dealt overage defenceman Nathan Chiarlitti to the Owen Sound Attack.

The Sting have received a 2nd round pick (2015), a conditional 5th round pick  (Kingston’s -2013) and a 10th round pick (2014).

Beaulieu commented on the decision to move Chiarlitti.

“We had five overage players in our camp and we felt it was important to address the situation sooner rather than later.  One of our strength’s is our depth on defense therefore we felt it would be best to make this move.  With our overage situation there was not going to be an easy decision with any of them.  We are happy with the assets we received in return for Nathan.”

Beaulieu would further comment on Chiarlitti’s time with the hockey club.

“We felt due to the overage situation this was a necessary move to make.  However it was a particularly gut wrenching move for me, our ownership and our entire coaching staff.  Nathan gave everything he had over the past four years to this organization and was our Captain for two years.  He loved this team and this community and exemplified the type of player and student athlete that our league is all about.  We wish Nathan all the best and truly thank him for everything he has given our organization.”
