Week 5 Atom Hockey

Yet another exciting week in Atom House League Hockey has come and gone.
Four more nail biting games move the teams closer to the playoffs. The first game ended in a 2-2 draw between blue and white. The second game had yellow and grey facing off, with yellow coming away with the 5-3 win.
Another 5-3 game was to follow with Black taking the win over Red. Lastly, Orange and Green in a battle for ages, in which Green narrowly pulled away in the last 2 minutes.
The Blue and White teams played in a fierce goaltending contest. Andrew Harron and Nick Bishop dueled it out through three periods of play. The first period nearly went scoreless, until Curtis Arsenault found the pass from Jacob Graham and opened the scoring with 1:03 to go in the frame. Not to be outdone however, the Blue team answered, and brought the score to a draw with Jack Hutchinson burying the puck with 0:07 seconds left in the first. The second period remained a draw until Gregory Van Heyst took the feed from Jackson Fawdry pulling White into the lead. Blue, showing incredible fight fought back with a goal from The Teamwork of Christian DíAgostini, and Liam Cullinan. The third period was another goaltending battle, and the score ended in a fitting 2-2 tie.
The second game of the morning set Grey and Yellow against one another in a hard fought battle. The Grey teamís Ewan Morrison scored a natural hat-trick spread over three periods but this was not without the direct help of line-mate Kyle Fraser who picked up the assists on all 3 goals. On the other side of the ice however, the Yellow teamís Alexander Dafoe and Nathan Stewardson each had a 2 goal game. Assists to the duo coming from Tyler Veitch, Hudson Laur, Ashton Ramos, and Owen Chute. And the very last goal in the game came off the stick of Nolan Jennings. This notched the final score at 5-3 with Yellow on top.
The third game of the morning ended again in a 5-3 draw. The Red and Black teams each worked with a phenomenal team effort. In the game, the teams had a combined effort from 7 different scorers. The Red teamís Austin Bishop, Matteo Troiani, and Aiden Healey each picked up a goal a piece, with assists going to Tyler Caron and Patrick Tisdale. Scoring for the black team was Jacob Roe, Ethan Charron, Ivan Lange, and Liam Robinson. Helpers for Black are credited to Sebastien Fraser, Gabe Olivotto, and George Feniack.
To finish off the Saturday Morning action, Green and Orange faced off, and fought until the final whistle, leaving the board showing a 3-2
Victory for Green. Aiden Matuzic scored for the Green team in the first, followed by Jack Symington who notched his game high 2 goals in the second and third. The Orange team had scoring from Jimmy Bennett and Quinn Schmidt just falling short as Green held on through the third period to add another game to the win column.
