Wallaceburg Lakers Couldn't Hold onto Lead over Alvinston

The Wallaceburg Lakers dropped a 7 - 6 decision against the Alvinston Flyers in Great Lakes Junior C Hockey action on Friday night.

 

Both sides were tied with 3 apiece after the first period with Davis Triest scoring a pair of goals for Alvinston and Kole Keating scored a single.  Lucais Meyskens, Sam Jasmin (shorthanded) and Jeff Nolfo each scored for the Lakers.

 

In the second period Lucais Meyskens scored two unanswered goals for a hat trick that put the Lakers up 5 - 3 heading into the third.

 

In the third period Jake McPhail scored the first goal for Alvinston at 5:42 followed by Karsten Berg for the tie at 7:55.  McPhail scored the third goal to take the lead for the first time in the game for Alvinston at 11:44.  At 15:05 Jeff Nolfo scored the tying goal for Wallaceburg unassisted and at 17:57 Josh Moore scored the game winner for Alvinston.

 

Wallaceburg went 0 for 2 on the power play, Alvinston went 0 for 3.

 

Wallaceburg outshot Alvinston 38 - 37.  Joel Sowinski took the loss in with a total of 30 saves.  Brad Jacklin earned the win for Alvinston with 32 saves.

 

Alvinston is currently in 4th place in the standings wutg 17 - 11 - 1 - 2,  just one point difference from third place Wheatley.  Wallaceburg is now 9 - 21 - 0 - 2 in 8th spot.
