The Sarnia Jr Sting Minor
Atom MD team made the trip to Point Edward
to play an exhibition game against the Point
Edward Atom Blackhawks. This was the 2nd
game between these 2 teams and after skating
to a 0-0 tie after a shootout last game,
both teams were eager for the second
matchup.The
Blackhawks opened up the scoring late in the
1st period and would score another goal a
short time later in the period to take a 2-0
lead. The Jr Sting answered back with
20 seconds left in the period, making it 2-1
after the first period..
Halfway through the 2nd period the
Blackhawks would widened their lead again to
go up to a 3-1 score, but the Sting MD team
would come back late in the 2nd period,
making it 3-2, to narrow the gap by 1 again.
With both teams
playing like it was the game 7 of finals in
the playoffs, and with great opportunities
by both teams, the game would end with a
final 3-2 score to give the Point Edward
Blackhawks the win. Goals were scored
by Justin Waun, Nick Kootstra, and Jeff
Horner, assists coming from Jeff Horner,
Shaun McDermott and Nick Kootstra. The
Point Edward team and Coaching Staff would
