Hi Everyone! Usually February is a time of year
that Margaret and I get to take a bit of a break after the National
Championships and we start to get ready for our show season and look ahead
to plans for the upcoming competitive year. This year, all of that will have
to wait until March. We're continuing to train really hard and get ready for
Junior Worlds which will be held in Belarus at the end of February.
We're coming out of two strong performances that earned us a 6th place
finish at the Canadian Championships in Moncton, N.B. in January and we've
had a great season on the Junior International circuit. Our focus for
Belarus, aside from trying to stay warm amidst Europe's incredible cold
snap, is to carry the confidence we've gained throughout this season and to
push ourselves with the speed and ease of execution of our technical
elements.
Having competed this year back and forth between Junior and Senior events
we've gained new perspective on our competitive goals and on what our
strengths are against different fields. Less emphasis on the technical
difficulty in the Junior events brings the expectations of an added
attention to detail and far fewer mistakes made.
Margaret and I are aiming for a podium finish amongst a very strong field of
competitors. The three-time junior world champions, China's Han and Sui
along with this years American and Canadian junior champions and some
notable Russian contenders will also be competing at this event.
Thanks to everyone in Sarnia for their well wishes and continued support of
Margaret and myself. We look forward to seeing you all in March and April at
the Point Edward Carnival and at our ice show in Strathroy!
