In
the first game of the series the Lady Sting played a
solid game at both ends of the rink, and came away
with a 1 – 0 victory over the Kent County Fillies.
The lone goal of the game came in the second period
by Ashley Williams, assisted by Vanessa Wardell.
Whitney Simpson earned the shutout in net for the
Sting, making several key saves early in the game
giving the Sting the early support they needed.
In game 2 of the series the Sting
travelled to Kent hoping to eliminate the Fillies
from the playoffs. The Sting opened the first period
strong, but was not rewarded with a goal for their
efforts. The Fillies would score on the first shift
of the second period to gain the 1 – 0 lead. The
Sting continued to battle but was unable to find the
back of the Fillies net. Both teams had chances in
the third period which become a physical game with
several penalties called. The Sting pulled their
goalie late in the game to try and pull equal with
the Fillies, but the Sting would give up an empty
net goal and lose 2 – 0.
Game three will be at the RBC
Saturday February, 18 at 3:15 pm, with the winner
advancing to the next round of LLFHL playoffs vs.
Waterloo.
