Seventy one year old Gord Butler bowls Perfect Game

 Gord Butler records his first perfect game

          Seventy one year old Gord Butler is the latest bowler to achieve perfection as he rolled his first perfect game to take the high single honours in Sarnia 10 - Pin bowling action this week. He rolled twelve solid pocket strikes and was 112 pins over his average. He accomplished the feat in the Monday Night Men’s League at Marcin Bowl. The right handed low speed bowler was participating in his second game on lanes 25 & 26 and finished the night with a 705 triple. Butler was a 5-pin bowler for ten years in his younger life but gave up bowling for twenty years. When he retired sixteen years ago, he was encouraged by a friend to join the Retirees 10 – Pin bowling league and the rest is history.

Jim Creasor fired 773 (279-227-267) in the Bluewater Men’s League at Marcin Bowl to take the week’s high triple honours.

On the ladies side, top scores were Taylor Croteau 577 (a super 256 single), Jessica Tetreault 181 and Nicole Johnson 173.

                In the Marcin SMAA League Juniors division, the boy’s upper scores were Tyler Edwards 608 (202-224), Colin Hanley 507 (175), Kody Croteau 187, Mitch Damchuk 176 and Branden Riberdy 175. The girl’s noted scores were Samantha Creasor 536 (an excellent 230 single), Lauren Kleinsmith 502 (192-177) and Makayla Apter 483 (170).

                In the Marcin SMAA League Preps division, the girl’s high scores were Morgan Pelkie 382 (132), Hollie-Anne Jean 319 (149) and Madison Kehler 281 (109). The boy’s top scores were Peyton DeMarco 396, Jason Gruben 376, Maximillian Micheluc 359 (150), Bryce Cabral 169 (an outstanding 100 pins over his average) and Nic Peckham 149.

                In the Marcin SMAA League Senior Bantams division, the girl’s best scores were Paige Jean 209 (85) and Savannah Cope 69. The boy’s noted scores were Ryan Gruben 230 (82), Yanic Babcock 190, Joey Windover 183 (83) and Jason Cope 91.

                Jim Lapointe fired 696 (246-235) in Marcin Tuesday Night Men’s League flurry.                 In Airey Lanes Ladies Thursday Happy Hour League action, Lori Japp took care of the ladies high scores with 193 and 503. Team standings are Di’s Ring 135, Crown Jewel 117, Fluttering Butterfly 108, Purple Petals 90, Star Burst 88 and Bleeding Heart 86.

In Airey Lanes Sunday Night Mixed League play, Bev Rankin rolled the ladies top scores 200 and 507. On the gentlemen’s side, Harold Peters tossed the high single 211 while Bill Crumb fired the high triple 538. In Marcin Saturday Night Mixed League fun, the ladies top scores were Colleen Lacasse 564 (204-222), Anne Strangway 486 and Sharon Zonneville 174. The men’s high scores were Justin Zonneville 687 (240-255), Ron Osadca 632 (204-263), Mike Taylor 560 (204), Garry Zonneville 214 and Dennis Phillips 190.

In Marcin Sunday Morning Ladies League play, upper scores were Cheryl Millar 531 (189-192), Linda Bentley 484 (176), Joy Timington 480 and Diane Reid 170. Team standings are Fiddle Heads 53, Sweet Corn 47, Sweet Peas 46, Squash Bottoms 43, Cabbage Patch Kids 41 and Chili Peppers 34.

In Marcin Sarnia Reserve Mixed League activity, the women’s noted scores were Jo Ellen Beveridge 582 (225) and Cid Bearheart 532 (198). The men’s leading scores were Elgin George 600 (226-223), Bill Smith 585 (209-200) and Jody Antila 580 (218).

In Marcin Ontario Hydro Mixed League action, the women’s top scores were Lori Falls 535 (190-212), Barb Montgomery 503, Kim Taylor 473, Bonnie VanGrimberghe 473 (199), Annette Urban 196, Denise Thomas 185 and Kandyce Taylor 183. In Marcin National Farmers Union League action, Randy Raaymakers took care of the ladies high scores with 215 and 512. Joe Simmons was tops for the men with 599 (257) followed by Ian Nickels 564 (215), Ted Loxton 560 (209), Lorne Johnson 205 and John Daamen 190. In Marcin Tuesday Mixed League activity, the women’s upper scores were Sharon Seguin 500 (191), Julie Beaudoin 471 (174) and Jeanne Chalmers 459. Noted men’s scores were Roy Baker 621 (215), Marcel Philippon 619 (237), Joe Bourgeois 617 (234), Richard Murphy 230-222 and Henri Lebelle 226.              The Provincial 10 – Pin Bowling Tournament will be held at Windsor’s Rose Bowl Lanes May 12 – 27.
