In
Lambton Kent Youth Soccer
League action, Sarnia FC
(Chelsea) played their ninth
game of the season vs. one
of Sarnia's other U10 teams
- FC Madrid. This marks the
half way point of the season
as Chelsea has played
everyone once so far in
their league.
Chelsea would start the game
on a slow pace but seemed to
control the ball for most
possession. Some good
scoring chances arose
however, the Madrid keeper
would make some huge saves
to keep things even. Madrid
would get on the board first
when their striker lofted a
high ball over the
outstretched hands of
Chelsea goalie Andrew Harron.
Late in the first half,
Chelsea would even the score
when Striker Ryan Janssens
placed the perfect shot into
the right corner of the
Madrid goal. Teams went into
halftime tied at ones.
FC Chelsea seemed to
dominate play for the entire
second half pinning Madrid
deep in their end of play.
They had numerous scoring
opportunities but again were
held by a strong defense,
and goalie. It wasn't until
half way through the period
that Chelsea would find the
net. Mid-fielder James Brown
would not be denied as his
relentless pressure was
rewarded as he blasted the
ball behind the Madrid
keeper to put Chelsea up by
one. Chelsea defenders stood
strong and denied most
Madrid advancements to keep
the game in check. Harron
made some key saves and
closed out the game with a
victory. Some great soccer
from both sides of the
pitch!! Excellent job U10
Boys!!
