Sarnia FC Waters Edge Classic was a Huge Success

July 23, 2012

On Saturday and Sunday the Sarnia FC was host to the Waters Edge Classic Tournament held at the Bluewater Bridge Fields.  The tournament was for ages U8, U9 & U10.  This was the third year for the tournament and the first year for the U8 Division.  A total of 24 teams participated that included six teams from Sarnia FC.  Teams came from Brantford, Woodstock, London, Windsor, Belle River, Dorchester, Byron, LaSalle, Chatham and Wallaceburg.

Sarnia Black U8 and Sarnia Arsenal U10 were the only teams that made it to the semi finals.  Sarnia Black were shut out 2 - 0 by Woodstock and Sarnia Arsenal were defeated by German Canadian 3 - 1.

In the U8 Division Belle River defeated Woodstock Rangers 7 - 3 to take home the Championships. Oakridge Thunder took a 3 - 1 win over Brantford City Thunder to win the U9 Title and the U10 title went to Brantford Galaxy edging out German Canadian FC Firebolts by a score of 2 - 1.

"We received a lot of positive feedback" said Tournament Director Dean Troiani "weather conditions were good, the fields were dry due to lack of rain but the location is perfect.  The Bluewater Bridge Fields is a beautiful location to hold this event and to showcase our community.  We look forward to holding this event next year."
