The
Men's Development and Premier
teams each won their home
openers on Saturday at Norm
Perry Park. Prior to the
two games
the
Ladies took to the field in an
exhibition match against
Michigan State University.
Michigan State went up 5 - 0 the
girls rallied and came back and
Daria Keane scored the first try
of the game for Sarnia and went
on and added another.
Shelane Stuart & Carleigh
Lalonge each scored single
tries. Kicker Lisa Oleniuk
converted on 3. Final
score of the game was 26 - 10.
Woman of the Match was Carleigh
LaLonge.
"Michigan
State had a very large group of
mobile forwards who ran the ball
hard and tackled hard" said
Coach Shawn Keane "so we had to
pull away from their forwards
and get the ball to our back
line to make it 5 - 5 at the
half and then we finish it up
nicely."
The
woman are now 2 - 0 for the
season.
Development Team
The
Men's Development team defeated
the Oshawa Vikings by a score of
32 - 14 for their first win of
the season. Player of the
match was Nick Powell. "I
was really happy with effort the
guys gave, we have a lot of
inexperience guys that came in."
said coach Todd Whitlock
"Overall the guys are working
hard"
For
the Men's Premier team they took
a lopsided 47 - 18 win over
Oshawa's Premier team.
Chris Dundee scored two tries in
the match and singles by Tyler
Boyd, Chris Hart, Mike McGuire,
Matt McAuslan and Stuart
Edwards. Stuart Edwards
also kick for 6 conversions.
"This was a big win for us" say
Captain Tyler Boyd "we practiced
lots that gave us with good
results".
Player
of the Match was Chad Doran.
The Premier team is now 1 - 2
for the season.
