Sarnia Lady Sting Bantam BB wins two
games on the weekend to keep Provincial
drive alive.
On
Saturday the Sarnia Lady Sting took on
the Windsor Wildcats in the second game
of their Provincial Playdowns. In the
first game of the series Windsor would
score a late goal to hand Sarnia a 3 – 2
defeat. Sarnia would turn the tables in
the second game and score with 1.4
seconds remaining in the game for the 1
-0 win. Sarnia goal was scored by Lauren
Wilson, assisted by Avery Devereaux and
Addison Smith. Whitney Simpson was
strong in net for the Sting and recorded
the shutout.
On Sunday the Lady Sting would play the
undefeated Lakeshore Lighting at Sarnia
Arena. The Sting opened the scoring in
the first period with a hard shot from
the point by Addison Smith which found
the back of the net. Assisting on the
Smith goal was Ashley Williams. The
Sting would strike again in the first
period on a goal by Suzanne Lockhart who
walked out of the corner and roofed the
puck to give the Sting a 2 – 0 lead.
Assisting on the goal for the Sting was
Christina Devine. Lakeshore would score
a goal late in the second period to
close the gap to 2 -1. Sarnia would play
solid hockey in the third period and win
the game 2 -1.
The Lady Sting will now play the Kent
County Fillies on Thursday night at
Germain Arena 8 pm, with the game winner
moving on to the Provincial Tournament
in April.
