Legionnaires sweeps Lambton Shores

Lambton Shores, ON - It was expected that the first place team win over the eighth place team and the Sarnia Legionnaires did just that winning four games straight over Lambton Shores to take the first series in the Western Conference of the Greater Ontario Hockey League.

In the final game the Legionnaires defeated the Predators with a final score of of 5 - 2.  Lambton Shore led after the first period of the game scoring two goal to Sarnia's one.  Brett Thompson scored first for the Predators just :16 seconds into the game. Sarnia went on and tied at 9:41 with Anthony Donati scoring and at 16:41 Adam Arseneault took the lead for the final time for the Predators.

Second period saw Shawn Waldie score an unassisted goal shorthanded for the tie and in the third on the power play Brent Sauve scored the winning goal on a power play.  Sarnia went on and added two more goals with an unassisted goal by Evan Dixon and an empty netter by Nathan Mater.

Kyle Washer went the distance in net for the win making 23 saves, Brandon Campbell took the loss with a total of 26.

Sarnia scored once on three power play opportunities, Lambton Shores were denied on three opportunities.

"Tonight was a great effort from all the players. The played hard from start to finish. It was nice to see. I want to wish Sarnia the best, they are a great team. I want to thank the fans that came out to cheer us on. It was nice to see and hear them. To all the players on the Predators team. I am very proud of them" said Head Coach Mark Davis.

Sarnia now moves on to the semi finals.
