Sting blanked Owen Sound Attack, Yakupov hit hard
 March 10th, 2012

Despite the Sting's  4 - 0 shut out win the main concern in this game is the status of Nail Yakupov who went down in last night's game.

Yakupov was skating across the ice in Owen Sounds end when he was hit hard by the Attacks captain Michael Halmo.  Yakupov suffered cuts and abrasions to his face, but additional injuries have yet to be told.  He did not return to the game. Halmo was given a five-minute charging and a five minute major for fighting along with an automatic game misconduct.

Up to the point of the hit the Sting were leading 1 - 0 as Brett Thompson had scored the first goal.  After the hit Thompson scored his second goal his thirtieth of the year to give Sarnia the 2 - 0 lead.  In the third period Sarnia went on and scored two power play goals the first by Ryan Spooner and the final goal by Ludvig Rensfeldt.

JP Anderson earned his third shut out for the season, Jordan Binnington took the loss for the Attack.  Sarnia outshot Owen Sound 37 - 23.

The Sting are back in action Sunday when they travel to Windsor for an afternoon game.
