On
Thursday March 22 the Sarnia
Jr. Sting Major Atom MD
opened their semi-final
series against the London
Bandits at the Germain Arena
and came away with a 3-0
win.
Kaz
Gudelis started the scoring
on a wrist shot from the
blue line with 3 minutes
left in the opening period.
Assisting on Kaz’s goal were
Nathan Abbott and Ian
Bailey.
Tyler
Talbot-Ellis scored with
3:52 left in the middle
frame as he split the
defense and beat the Bandits
goalie low stick side. Aiden
Clark was awarded an assist
on the play. Early in the
third Evan Trigatti finished
off the scoring on a power
play as he beat the Bandits
goalie on a sharp angle shot
from Ryan Eyre and Spencer
Baillie.
Stevie
Schaefer earned the shut out
stopping the Bandits on
several scoring chances
including a late third
period breakaway. Evan
Trigatti was the coach's
player of the game and
Stevie Schaefer was the
parents player of the game.
Sarnia, On - The Sarnia
Jr. Sting Major Atom MD
closed out their
semi-final playoff
series Saturday night in
London by defeating the
London Bandits by a
score of 2-1.
Cole Goossens got the
Jr. Sting off to a quick
start as he scored 3
minutes into the contest
with Spencer Baillie and
Kaz Gudelis assisting.
With 5:42 left in the
opening frame Tyler
Talbot-Ellis added to
the total as his shot
snuck between the
Bandits net minders pads
and into the back of the
net. Nathan Oliphant and
Ian Bailey were awarded
assists on the play.
The Bandits would get on
the scoreboard at the
half way point of the
third but Sarnia goalie
Cam Stevens would shut
the door and earn the
victory in net for the
Jr. Sting. Cole Goossens
was the coach's pick for
player of the game while
Tyler Talbot-Ellis was
the parents choice.
The Jr. Sting will now
face the London
Nationals in the
Alliance Hockey West MD
Championship. Game times
to be announced.
