This was the second overtime
win and Sarnia takes a 2 - 1
lead in the series in the
best of seven in the OHL
Western Conference
quarter-finals.
Alex
Galchenyuk scored his second
playoff goal to open the
scoring at 1:04 to take the
early lead for the Sting.
Ludvig Rensfeldt added the
second goal at 15:39 to give
the Sting the 2 goal lead
which didn't last long as
Saginaw answered back less
than a minute later.
Garret Ross scored the first
for Saginaw.
In the second period both
sides would share power play
goals the first by Connor
Murphy of the Sting and
Brandon Saad for Saginaw.
Time of the goals were at
3:56 and 6:35. Sagianw
would push forward as Steven
Strong tied things up at
8:39 and Vincent Trocheck
gave Saginaw the lead for
the first time 11:44.
Two minutes later Sarnia's
Craig Hottot tied things up
and the period ended with
each side tied a 4 each.
Just :08 seconds into the
third Saginaw scored goal
number five to regain the
lead. Reid Boucher tied the
game once again at 9:09 and
both sides would continue
going end to end and the
period ended each side even
to send the game into
overtime where Ludvig
Rensfeldt scored his second
from just inside the
blueline to give Sarnia the
6 - 5 win.
Sarnia went 1 for 5 on power
play opportunities, Saginaw
went 1 for 3. JP
Anderson earned the win
making several key. Anderson
turned away 31 shots on
goal. Jake Paterson
took the loss with 24 saves.
The teams now travel back to
Saginaw for game four at
7:11. Fan bus will be
departing at 4:00 pm.
