The Sarnia
Jr. Sting Major Atom MD defeated the
Oakridge Aeros by a score of 6-2 at the
Clearwater Arena on Saturday March 3.
Evan Trigatti tipped in a Close Goossens
shot to open the scoring at the 6 minute
mark of the first period. Oakridge
answered before the first was over to
tie the game at one goal apiece.
Cole Goossens scored on back to back
breakaway’s in the middle frame with Mat
Waun assisting on Cole’s second goal.
Nathan Oliphant added another from Aiden
Clark to make it 4-1 and Evan Trigatti
got his second of the game on a
breakaway pass from Spencer Baillie and
Ryan Eyre to make it 5-1 at the end of
the second.
Oakridge would score at the beginning
of the third to close the gap to 5-2
before Mat Waun finished the scoring for
Sarnia from Collin Zimmer. Stevie
Schaefer and Cameron Stevens shared the
goal tending duties this game.
Cole Goossens was the choice for the
coach’s player of the game while Tyler
Talbot-Ellis was the parents pick.
Sarnia is back in action tomorrow as
they continue the Alliance West MD play
downs against the surging West London
Hawks in London.
