Sarnia lost to Plymouth
 March 4th, 2012

Sarnia, On - Sting drop a 5 - 4 decision to the Whalers Sunday afternoon at the RBC Centre.  This is the third loss in a row for the Sting.


Plymouth took a 3 - 1 lead after the first period with Rickard Rakell, Alex Aleardi (shorthanded) and Mitchel Heard scoring.  Sarnia's lone goal was scored by Ryan Spooner on the power play from Nail Yakupov and Connor Murphy.

In the second the only goal scored was by Sarnia on the power play to narrow the gap to 1 goal.  Domenic Alberga scored with Charles Sarault and Reid Boucher assisting.

Third period brought some life back into the RBC centre when Anthony DeAngelo scored to tie things up at 1:33 into the period and then Nail Yakupov scored :27 seconds later to take the lead.  Ryan Spooner assisted on DeAngelo's goal and Ludvig Rensfeldt and Charles Sarault assisted on Yakupov goal.

The lead was short lived as Garret Meurs scored to tie and later at 15:53 Plymouth scored the game winner with Stefan Noesen scoring.

Sarnia went 2 for 5 on the power play Plymouth went 0 for 2.

In the standings race Owen Sound just slid into 4th place in the Western Conference.  Both teams are tied with 69 points after 62 gamess. Owen Sound is 31-24-3-4,  Sarnia is 31-24-2-5

The Sting play three games this coming weekend the first two at home as they host the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds Friday night and the Owen Sound Attack Saturday night, On Sunday they travel to Windsor.
