Sarnia Spirit U14 Lost in Shootout
at WOYSL Kick off Classic

The Sarnia
Spirit Under 14
Girls SoccerTeam
played in the
Kick Off Classic
this past
weekend in
Tilsonburg.
In the first
group stage
game, the Spirit
defeated North
London Galaxy
1-0 on a goal by
Cassy Forte.
Cassidy
Edlington earned
the shut out. In
game two, the
Spirit tied
Waterloo 0-0
with Edlington
recording the
shutout. Game
three saw Sault
Ste Marie take
an early 2-0
lead with the
Spirit fighting
back to tie the
game 2-2.
Cameron George
and Kristin
Hodgins scored
the Spirit
goals.
In semi final
play, Sarnia
defeated Guelph
3-0 with goals
from Cassy
Forte, Katie
Barwitski, and
Kristin Hodgins.
Edlington with
the clean sheet.
Sarnia played
most of this
game with a
player short as
a result of a
red card
ejection. In the
final, the
Spirit played
Waterloo to a
0-0 score and
then lost the
game in a
penalty
shootout.
Shamrock Cup
In late April,
the Spirit U14
Team also played
in the Shamrock
Cup in New
Baltimore,
Michigan. This
was a warm up
tournament for
season play. The
Spirit lost to
the U14/15
Michigan Burn
3-2. Emma Colman
and Cameron
George scored
the Spirit
goals. They tied
Michigan U13/U14
0-0 with
Edlington
receiving the
clean sheet and
they finished
off with another
0-0 tie versus
Detroit Waza.
Edlington with
the shutout.
The Spirit begin
their league
season in the
WOYSL this
Saturday in
Cambridge. Game
time is 5.00 pm
at Rogers Field.
