The
Sarnia Pacers just couldn't get
the breaks last night after
taking a 12 - 11 loss in
overtime against the Windsor
Clippers in Ontario Jr B
Lacrosse league action.
There were a few questionable
calls or calls not made that
could have made the difference.
"I don't want to use the
referees as the scape goat you
have to play over them," said
coach Kevin Hugget. "At times we
showed brilliance and
other times they weren't very
smart. And bad breaks, like
Cody's stick, a 3 on 1 and the
head on his stick comes off,
talk about tough luck".
Windsor led 4 - 2 after the
first and the game was tied 6 -
6 at the end of the second.
In the third period both teams
scored 4 goals each sending the
game into overtime. Kevin Conroy
scored five of the Sarnia goals
in regulation time, Conner Smith
scored two goals and singles by
Kevin Hussey, TJ Mara and Chad
Zonneville.
In the 10 minute overtime Sarnia
scored first on a goal by Dan
Charlton to take the lead at
1:37. At 3:13 Windsor
evened the game once again and
with :30 seconds remaining
Windsor scored and held on to
take the win.
Justin Matthew took the loss in
net for the Pacers playing
outstanding with 54 shots on net
and making 42 saves. Kyle
May earned the win with 40 shots
on goal for 29 saves.
Windsor went 4 for 8 on the
power play, Sarnia went 2 for 8.
The Pacers are now half way
through the season with 1 win
and 9 losses. "We are just
going to keep plugging away with
our program and hopefully
they'll learn that there are
some things you just have to do,
but we'll just continue to work
hard," said Hugget.
The Pacers are back on the road
to finish the week off with a
game in London on Friday and
Elora on Saturday. Next
home game is on Wed May 30 when
they host London. Game
time 8:00 pm at Clearwater.
