The
LCCVI Lancers were the underdogs
heading into the finals as the
St. Clair Colts went undefeated
(5-0) in the regular season.
In the regular season season St. Clair
defeated the Lancers by a score
of 5 - 3 but on Thursday LCCVI took the
win with a final score of 3 - 0
to take the 2012 LSSAA Boys
Baseball title.
Both
sides were scoreless after the
first two innings. In the third
inning Lancer's Alec McLean got
on base and was brought home on
a double by Travis Helps to give
the Lancers the 1 - 0 lead.
The Colts would load the bases
in the third but left the
runners still standing. In
the fifth inning the Lancers
would increase their score by 1
when Troy Whitely scored after
Alec McLean hit a double.
The Colts again would load the
bases but were unable to hit
them home.
In the sixth inning Lancer's
Eric Lupton was able to steal
home on a wild pitch to go up 3
- 0 and that would remain the
same to give the Lancers the
win.
Pitching for the Colts were Ty
Whitbread and Travis Moore.
On the mound for the Lancers
were Justin Stephenson and Alec
McLean.
The Lancers will now compete for
the SWOSSAA title that they will
host sometime next week.
Date/time to be confirmed.
