The Organizers of the 2012 Provincial Women's Softball U18 Midget 1 Grand Champions announced that they will not be hosting the event as planned.   Due to the overwhelming number of teams registering for the Grand Championships and the number of games that must be played in the course of the 3 days, it was determined after awarding the championships to Sarnia-Lambton, that there would not be enough diamonds available at Courtright Park to host this year’s championship.

In a statement received from Marianne Allen, PWSA Bid Chair, she said "Unfortunately, we had to make the decision to change the venue of the 2012 Provincial Women’s Softball Association U18 Midget I Grand Championships to St. Catharines, Ontario. We truly apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused and look forward to hosting future championships in Lambton County.”

Vicky Praill, committee member and Group Marketing Co-ordinator for Tourism Sarnia Lambton commented: "I can assure you, we tried everything, even tried to extend the event by one day to accommodate all the games, however, we still could not accommodate all the games/teams. We also discussed the possibility of using other ball diamonds, throughout Lambton county, however, they were either already in use or just didn’t meet the provincial standards (lighting, specific dimensions, score board, press box, etc). As sad as I am that we will not be hosting these Championships, I know there will be other opportunities in the future."

Even though the Women's Championships won't be held here there is still a lot of ball tournaments and special events coming to Sarnia Lambton.  See list below for some of the upcoming activities:
