The Sarnia Sturgeon Peewees
were defeated by the Twin
City Predators by a score of
14 - 6 in their home/season
opener in OFC Football
action on Sunday at Norm
Perry Park.
The Predators scored their
first touchdown in the first
quarter by Jahmei Powell and
Jody Brown scored the extra
2 points to go up 8 - 0.
In the second quarter Jody
Brown ran in for 6 point
touchdown, but the Predators
were unable to capitalize on
the extra points. The
half ended with the
Predators leading 14 - 0.
"We started out slow and
flat and they are a big and
fast team and out guys
weren't ready for it." said
head coach Tim Purdy "We
challenged them at half time
and they showed up the
second half."
The Sturgeon took control in
the second half as Joey
Ferrera ran in for the touch
down near the end of the
third quarter. Coach Purdy
estimated that they were in
possession for 80% of the
time but time ran out giving
the Twin City Predators the
win.
"We
have a good bunch of
players, and I'm very happy
with the players we got so
I'm sure the way we bounced
back in the second half
we are going to learn from
this." said Purdy
The Peewee's travel to
London next weekend to take
on the defending champions
the
Forest City Thunderbirds.
