Sarnia Sting a Scoring Machine in Plymouth

Plymouth, MI  – The Sarnia Sting took a 7 - 5 win over the Plymouth Whalers in the second game of the home/home series Saturday night in Plymouth. 

 

Sarnia took a 2 - 1 lead after the first period and never looked back.  In the second period the Sting added three unanswered goals to widen the lead to 5 - 2.  The Sting continue to score and took a 6 - 2 lead in the third before Plymouth scored back to back goals and narrowed the gap to 6 - 4.  Sarnia added they final goal and in the last minute of play Plymouth added one more but time ran out and the Whalers were unable to catch the Sting.

Alex Galchenyuk scored two goals in the game giving him ten goals for the season Galchenyuk also contributed with two assists to give him four points for the night.  Charlie Sauralt also earned four points with a goal and three assists.  Nicolay Goldobin, Nikolas Latta, Brett Hargrave and Reid Boucher added to the score board with singles.

 

Alex Aleardi scored two goals for the Whalers with singles by Ryan Hartman, Stefan Noesen and Zach Bratina.

 

The Whalers outshot Sarnia 38 - 30.  JP Anderson earned the win in net for the Sting with a total of 33 saves.

 

After Saturday's game there is a four way tie in the West Division for first place.  Plymouth, Sarnia, Sault Ste Marie and Windsor each have 19 points. 

 

Sarnia is now 9 - 7 - 1 for the season with a road record of 6-1-0-0.  They look to increase that record as they head to Saginaw today for an afternoon game against the Spirit.
