Legionnaires Newest Acquisition is from Alaska
November 26, 2012

The Sarnia Legionnaires are going far and wide in their bid to come up with a contender. The Jr. 'B' hockey club's latest acquisition is Henry Yawit, a forward from Alaska. General manager Bob Williamson said Yawit is a native of Anchorage.

Yawit, a right winger who can also play centre, skated with the Alaska Wolves U-18 squad last season. He was, in fact, named that team's most valuable player.

His plus-minus record was a plus 15.

In high school, Yawit played for a state championship team.

This year, in 10 games with the North Bay Trappers of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League, the 17-year-old had one goal and an assist.

"He's a good penalty killer with lots of speed,” Williamson said.

Yawit, who stands 5'9 and weighs 180 pounds, is expected to be in the lineup Sunday when the Legionnaires play in Leamington.

Williamson also announced Chandler Allen, who had a brief tryout with the Legionnaires earlier this month, has been returned to his Lambeth Jr. 'C' team.
