The Petrolia Squires took a two game loss over the weekend with the first a 6 - 1 loss at home on Friday against the Komoka Classics.
Komoka went up 3 - 0 in the first period, added a single in the second and finished it off with two in the third.
Eric Stoyanovich scored a pair of goals with singles by Randy Hannigan, Adam Nemeth, Mike Findlater and Josh Cornellisen adding singles
The lone goal for the Squires came in the second period on a power play with Jesse Drydak scoring assisted by Scott McPhail and Greg Bailey.
Komoka outshot the Squries 41 - 24. Chris Houle took the loss for the Squires turning away 35. KJ Robinson earned the win with 23 saves.
On Saturday the Squires traveled to Tavistock and came up with a 5 - 3 loss. Petrolia opened the scoring early in the first period with Rob Vanwynsberghe scoring assisted by Greg Bailey and Breydan Belan. Tavistock answered back just over two minutes later scoring a shorthanded goal. Tyler Townsend scored for the Royals. Petrolia regained the lead with 7:38 left on the clock on a power play with Tyler Haddon scoring assisted by Greg Bailey and Jesse Drydak.
Mitch Zavitz gave the Squires a 3 - 1 lead in the second with Greg Bailey and Tom Scott assisting. A late period goal by Tavistock's Ryan Clarke narrowed the gap to 3 - 2 heading into the third.
Third period it was all Tavistock as they went on and scored three unanswered goals. Tyler Townsend tied things up after scoring on the power play. Greg Virgo gave Tavistock their first lead of the night then was sealed by Cody Hall with 3:34 remaining in the game.
Tavistock outshot the Squires 54 - 24. Matthew Slotwinski made a total of 49 saves for the Squires, Evan Groenestege made 21 in the win.
The two losses over the weekend dropped the Squires to third place in the standings race. They are now 5 - 2 - 1 for the season.
The Squires are back in action next Friday November 9 when they host Monkton at 8:00 pm at the Greenwood Recreation Centre.
