The Northern Jr. Vikings football team capped off a perfect season with a win in the LSSAA finals, beating a tough St. Christopher's team 56-8.
The Vikings got on the scoreboard first at 7:36 of the opening quarter when Kobe Lundy kept the ball at the quarterback position and ran into the endzone from 20 yards out. Maxfield added the extra point. The Cyclones put a point on the board moments later when their field goal attempt sailed wide and through the endzone for a rouge. Kobe Lundy racked up his second major at the end of the opening quarter on a 68 yard touchdown run. Maxfield's extra point was good. Late in the 2nd quarter, Jordan Walsh picked up a Cyclones' punt and returned it 30 yards for a touchdown. Maxfield added the extra point to make the halftime score Vikings 21, Cyclones 1.
The Vikings widened the scoring gap in the 3rd quarter when Walsh stripped the ball from a Cyclones' running back and returned it 45 yards the other way for his second defensive touchdown of the game. Niles Crews added his first major of the game and Lundy finished the quarter off with another touchdown effort. Maxfield kept his perfect point after quest intact. The Vikings added two more majors in the final quarter, both on strong running efforts by Crews, from 35 and 60 yards. Maxfield kicked both extra points. St. Chris' added a touchdown of their own and an extra point to leave the final score Vikings 56, Cyclones 8.
